User Guide
1. During Decorating (Short Breaks)
If stepping away for a few minutes or up to an hour, refrigeration is not required, but the piping tips must stay moist.
Wet Towel Method:
Place a damp paper towel or kitchen cloth at the bottom of a tall glass. Stand piping bags tip-down so the tips rest against the damp towel to prevent drying and clogging.Tip Covers:
Use silicone tip covers if available.
2. Overnight Storage (Up to 1–2 Weeks)
Royal icing made with meringue powder is shelf-stable, but refrigeration helps maintain freshness and reduces separation.
Seal the Tip:
Uncut bag: clip the end
Cut tip/nozzle attached: wrap tightly with plastic wrap (cling film) and secure with tape if needed
Seal the Back:
Twist the top tightly and secure with a rubber band or bag clipDouble Bag:
Place piping bags into a large zip-lock bag or airtight container to prevent fridge odours from affecting the icingStorage:
Keep refrigerated
3. Long-Term Storage (Up to 3 Months)
Freezing is ideal if the icing won’t be used for several weeks.
Follow the Seal the Tip and Seal the Back steps
Lay bags flat in a large freezer bag, remove as much air as possible, and seal
Freeze flat until solid
How to Reuse Stored Icing (Important)
Separation is normal—water may rise to the surface or appear darker.
Thaw (if frozen):
Bring bags to room temperature (30–60 minutes). Do not heat.Massage:
Before removing the tip wrap, firmly knead and massage the bag between your palms until the colour and texture are fully uniform.Test Flow:
Pipe a small amount onto paper towel to ensure smooth flow and correct consistency before decorating cookies.
